Gold Coast Golf Club Notes 6th January 2020
CAPTAIN’S DRIVE-IN 2020
Our Captains for 2020, John and Anne, with President Brian, got the Drive-In for the year off to a start yesterday morning. Fair play to everyone who turned out yesterday for the Captains Drive In. The weather wasn’t spectacular but it didn’t deter anyone from having an enjoyable day. Following the action on the course it was over to the Gold Coast Hotel for the customary spare-ribs and colcannon. The presentation of prizes then took place.
Good luck to John and Anne as Captains for 2020. Wishing them all the best from all the members here at the Gold Coast Golf Club.

JOHN WHITE CARPENTRY WINTER LEAGUE:
It was another busy week on the course for the Winter League participants, another great turnout. With many players now trying to better their scores, having played their initial 10 rounds, the next couple of weeks become fascinating with players trying to better the scores they have. Hopefully the weather remains favourable and everyone gets a chance to build on their score.
Thanks to our Captain, John White, for so generously sponsoring the Winter League again this year. All the individual scores for the league can be found on the Gold Coast Golf Club. website, goldcoastgolfclub.com and are updated weekly.

Round 11 of the league has now been compiled and as per results above, there has been no shake-up in the results, Liffey have retained first position with the Suir and the Lee in second and third positions, there is still time to get your team in contention!!
As we are in the second half of the leagues we would ask all participants to support their teams by putting in their scores whether good or bad as low scores can be eliminated after 10 rounds. At this stage, some teams are putting in a supreme effort with some ladies having completed up to 15 rounds to date, this shows commitment to their teams and the concept of the winter league, well done ladies!!!
