CAPTAINS DRIVE-IN
A new date has been fixed for Our Captains Drive-In and Scramble which is Wednesday 22nd April, with the Drive-In at 5pm followed by a scramble at 5.30pm. The timesheet is open for bookings so get your name down and support our Captains for 2026. With the extra few weeks, it will give Captain Johnny and lady Captain Bridge extra time to fine tune their drives on the first.
ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS
We would like to sincerely thank all members for your continued loyalty and support of Goldcoast Golf Club.
Annual Subscriptions for the 2026/2027 membership season (1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027) are now due. Golf Insurance is available at a cost of €25. An information email has been sent to members outlining subscription rates and payment methods.

INTER CLUBS
It’s that time of year again when the inter club fixtures are up and running and first up is the Purcell Shield this weekend. Best of luck to Team mangers Micheal Kavanagh and Alan Darcy and team who are taking on Williamstown Golf Club at home in the Goldcoast Golf Club after 2pm this Saturday 18th April. GENTS GOLFER OF THE YEAR 2026
The Golfer of the Year (GOY) competition returns for the 2026 season and will be based on performance across a series of qualifying competitions throughout the year.
Overview
The GOY recognises the most consistent performer across 10 qualifying competitions, with each player’s best 7 results counting towards their final total.

3 May — May Medal (Stroke, Blue)
24 May — Vice Captain’s Prize (Stroke, White)
21 June — Vice President’s Prize (Stableford, White)
3–4 July — Captain’s Prize Qualifier (Stroke, Blue)
26 July — July Medal (Stroke, Blue)
7–8 August — President’s Prize Qualifier (Stableford, Blue)
23 August — August Medal (Stroke, Blue)
13 September — September Medal (Stroke, Blue)
4 October — 18‑Hole Stableford (White)
Scoring
All competition results are converted to Stableford points
Best 7 of 10 scores qualify
Bonus points:
Competition winner: +2 points
Runner-up: +1 point
Prizes (per qualifying competition)
Overall Best Score
Best Category 1 (handicap ≤ 10)
Best Category 2 (handicap 11–15)
Best Category 3 (handicap 16–19)
Best Category 4 (handicap 20–28)
Category placement is determined by a player’s playing handicap on the day of the competition.
The overall prize winner is excluded from Category prizes to ensure broader distribution.
Eligibility
Open to all full members with a valid Golf Ireland handicap
To be eligible to win the overall Golfer of the Year title, a player must have a fully developed handicap as at 01/01/2026
Country, Student and Junior members may enter competitions and win Category prizes but are not eligible to win individual GOY events or the overall GOY title
Leaderboard
The leaderboard will be updated after each qualifying event and displayed in the clubhouse. Final standings will be confirmed after the final qualifying competition on 4 October 2026.
The first qualifier takes place on Sunday, 19 April.
