The Clubs 9 Holes Singles Stableford Club Qualifier competition continues every Wednesday evening after 4p.m. Gents and ladies are eligible and are encouraged to participate and it’s an ideal opportunity for a game after work.  This 9 Hole Qualifying competition is run over the following sequence of holes. 1-5, 15-18.  Sign in and return scores on the Competitions Computer Terminal, competition entry is €3 and entry fees and scorecards for gents and ladies to be submitted into the main scorecard box.

This year our Presidents Michael and Alice tested the waters with a new format for the final day of the weekend, and what a success it proved to be!! With a shotgun start at 10am all participants started on their respective tees working like clockwork around the course with everybody finished by 1.30 just in time for the delicious BBQ manned by our new chefs all the way from Cork!! The excitement was electric in the car park when the winners of the ladies and mens became known, John White sailed home with a magnificent 41pts playing off a h/cap of 4 and our Mary K floated in with 43pts off a h/cap of 12, well done to both on super scores!!

The BBQ was enjoyed in super sunshine with the wine flowing and background music being played keeping everybody in the groove, the presentation of prizes took place amid rapturous applause and much hilarity!! The day went without a hitch and great credit is due to the organising committee, the sponsors who provided the delicious food and wines and the O’Driscoll family who did a fabulous job in the catering department, not forgetting David who provided the music and PA system for the occasion. Well Done to you all!!!

The Gold Coast are hosting this event on Sunday 15th September in aid of Breast Cancer awareness in an 18 Hole Singles format, this being a charity event we are hoping to see all our ladies out on the fairways dressed in as much pink as possible!! This year the Men’s club have decided to take part in the Play in Pink Day and there will be prizes for the best or most outrageous outfits which should make this a fun day for all, it will be interesting to see what shades of pink the boys will arrive in!!!!!

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with competition results, a knowledge of computers is an advantage but not essential as tuition will be given, also being a committee member is not a requirement. Please forward your name to Lady Captain or any committee member, it would be much appreciated!!

Our next meeting will be Friday 6th Sept @ 8pm
