President’s Prize 2019:

As Royco said yesterday, Michael, you nailed it. What a day it turned out to be. Having taken the decision to go with a shotgun start for the final round of his President’s Prize and getting the ladies involved as well, Michael Wall faced into his weekend not really knowing how everything was going to turn out. By 9.30 very nearly all the 81 players taking part in the shotgun start were present at the course with the practice green full. By 9.55 the car park was empty as all players had departed to their various starting points and by 10.00 the action had commenced. In the meantime preparations were going ahead in the car park with tables being set up, stools being provided, BBQ fired up etc. By 1.00 p.m. the first burger was ready for tasting, expertly cooked by our chefs, Tom, Caroline and June. At 1.20, 3 hours and 20 minutes after they starting, the first of the players starting arriving into the car park having completed their rounds of golf. Three score input points had been set up and this worked very well and soon all players were able to avail themselves of the delicious food that was being provided. Burgers, sausages, rolls, Apple tarts, cakes and wine was available in abundance and music was provided by David Power. While all this was going on Ruth and Teresa were checking the scores of the ladies and Irene, Martin and John were checking the men’s scores. At 15.25 Pat Power introduced the presentation party and by 15.50 all the prized had been distributed.

The weather always makes a big difference and Michael and Alice were blessed with the day. Both President’s were delighted with the day and they are to be commended on the initiative and thanked for all the work they put into the day. Also thanks to Irene, Brian Dunbar, John and Pa, our chefs, Tom, June and Caroline and all who helped out in any way to make the day the success it turned out to be.
