Gold Coast Golf Club Notes 14th October

AGM

The AGM of the Gents Club will take place on Monday 4th November at 8 p.m. The nomination sheet for the Committee is now posted in the Kiosk. Delighted to see the sheet filling up fast and this augers well for the Club with members willing to give their time to assist with the progression of the game in the Gold Coast.

Change of Conditions:

Players are requested to make themselves aware of the playing conditions before going out to play. With the present broken weather Winter Rules could come in at any time.

Winter League 2019/2020

Most of the organising is now completed and the league will start in the final week of October. Next week we hope to have a list of the teams taking part.

End of Year Dinner:

Sunday 20th Oct is the date for the ‘End of Year’ dinner where all the match-play tournaments prizes will be presented as well as Order of Merit and Golfer of the Year.

Inter-County Hurlers in Gold Coast

The annual visit of the former Inter-County Hurlers Society took place over the weekend and it was great to see so many of the finest hurlers to play the game come along to play golf, meet and chat. Discussions went long into the night and on Saturday the Annual Dinner took place in the Gold Coast Hotel.

Each year a different county takes over the running of the Society, last year it was Clare, and this year it is Waterford’s turn. Stephen Greene as Captain and Justin Spratt as President will look to get as many past Waterford Hurlers involved as possible, we wish them well for their year.

SOCIETIES AND GREENFEES WELCOME
Gold Coast Golf Club warmly welcome Societies and Green fees and we look forward to greeting you and your guests and friends.  Our society rates are very competitive and our Director of Golf Irene Lynch is available to provide advice and assistance to the Organisers of outings and Classics. Sympathy

Last week we all heard, with profound shock, of the death of Helen Fennell. Helen was one of the founder members of the Ladies Club and with her predeceased husband, Thomas, they both were an integral part of the Club for many years. Helen served as Lady Captain in 1995 and as Lady President in 2000. A Guard of Honour was provided by the Club at Helen’s Funeral.

Our condolences to Caroline and the extended Fennell family. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Gold Coast Golf Club, Dungarvan

Gold Coast Golf Club, Dungarvan is a championship parkland course. There are unrivaled views of Dungarvan Bay, the Irish Sea and Helvick Head. Mature tree-lined fairways laid out in 1939 are cleverly mingled with the long and challenging newer holes.

18 holes, par 72, stretching 6,204 metres [6,785 yards] and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean for 1.5 miles.
