President’s Prize 2019:

Following consultations between our two Presidents, Michael and Alice, it has been decided that the final round of the Gents competition together with the Ladies President’s Prize will have a shotgun start at 10.00 on Sunday 25th August. 42 Gents will qualify for the final day. Golf will be followed by a BBQ and presentation of prizes will take place at 3.30 p.m. The President’s Scramble will take place on Wednesday 21st August at 5.30 p.m.

Anniversary Mass for Mick

Mick Ahern’s anniversary mass is on Sunday 18th August at 10.00 in Kill Church.

Come & Try Golf Day

Another innovation for the Gold Coast. The Club asked members to invite friends, neighbours etc to come and try playing golf and what a success it turned out to be. Over 90 people took to the fairways in a 9 hole scramble, with 2 nine holes being used. It kicked off at 10 a.m. and just after noon the first of the golfers starting arriving back at the feeding station expertly manned by Maurice and Josephine. A sincere thanks to all the members who got involved and played. Hopefully we will get some new members from the day. I’m sure that this will now become an annual event.

25th Anniversary Celebrations:

The Gold Coast will celebrate 25 years in existence on Sunday 22nd September. There will be an 18 hole competition for members with starting times running from 8.00 a.m. to 10.22 a.m., Ladies from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. There will be a scramble at 12.30 for past members and officers and any present members who wish to take part. All past officers will be invited to play golf and to a dinner which will take place at 4 p.m. All current members will also be invited.

Charity Day in September:

This year we are joining with the Ladies Club on Sunday 15th Sept to help raise some money for Breast Cancer Awareness. Last year we wore our club colours on the day but this year all members are asked to wear pink as that is the colour that represents the charity we will be playing for.

The Clubs 9 Holes Singles Stableford Club Qualifier competition continues every Wednesday evening after 4p.m. Gents and ladies are eligible and are encouraged to participate and it’s an ideal opportunity for a game after work.  This 9 Hole Qualifying competition is run over the following sequence of holes. 1-5, 15-18.  Sign in and return scores on the Competitions Computer Terminal, competition entry is €3 and entry fees and scorecards for gents and ladies to be submitted into the main scorecard box.

The Gold Coast Golf Club is a championship Par 72 parkland course stretching 6785 yards and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean for 1.5 miles.  The scenery is spectacular with unrivalled views of Dungarvan Bay, the Irish Sea and Helvick Head.

We have very attractive membership rates for existing and new Full and Senior members. We can also offer very attractive packages for dual membership to both the golf club and leisure centre.

We have great facilities here at the Gold Coast.  Our championship golf course is maintained in excellent condition offering superb playability and presentation all year round, and our pristine greens are much admired.

Members can relax in the comfortable surroundings of our hotel bar and restaurant where our friendly staff serve delicious food daily.

Come and Try Golf Day

Our fun day was held on Sunday 11th August with a huge turnout from members and visitors of all ages from 9yrs and upwards, despite the fact we were playing a 9 Hole scramble all 18 tees were used several times!! With a shotgun start, all teams were in together around 1pm for the delicious BBQ prepared by our resident chefs, Maurice and Josephine who did a marvellous job despite the long queues of very hungry golfers. There was plenty of vino to keep the non-drivers happy as well as minerals and water for everybody, thanks to all involved in organising and sponsoring the event, a great day!! Presentation of all outstanding and scramble prizes took place in the car park in glorious sunshine with plenty of giveaways for the less fortunate!! Well Done.

South East Coastal Alliance

Our new season for 2019/20 starts this September with the first game being held in Dungarvan GC on Thursday 12th September, tee times to be advised. If you are new to the club this is a great way of playing other courses for a nominal fee of €10 per outing plus a yearly registration fee of €15.

Play in Pink Day

The Gold Coast are hosting this event on Sunday 15th September in aid of Breast Cancer awareness  in an 18 Hole Singles format, this being a charity event we are hoping to see all our ladies out on the fairways dressed in as much pink as possible!! This year the Men’s club have decided to take part in the Pink Day, which should make this a fun day for all, it will be interesting to see what shades of pink the boys will arrive in!!!!!

Card Rota System

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with competition results, a knowledge of computers is an advantage but not essential as tuition will be given, also being a committee member is not a requirement. Please forward your name to Lady Captain or any committee member, it would be much appreciated!!

Committee Meeting

Our next meeting will be Friday 12th July @ 8pm
