JOHN MCGRATH MEMORIAL 2023
This Wednesday 12th July we hold our John McGrath Memorial Charity Day with a shotgun start at 8 30am. We will be playing 32 holes of golf over the day, teams of 4, entry is €50 per person to be paid before Tuesday 11th as entries will not be taken on the day. This event is only open to members and special guests. It’s a wonderful day out and it raises money for a very deserving cause, namely Dungarvan Palliative Care Unit.
We will have a BBQ on the 9th, sandwiches tea/ coffee at the kiosk and a meal in the Hotel after with presentation of prizes. Anyone that can’t play on Wednesday 12th July might consider buying some Raffle tickets for the lovely hampers on display at the kiosk. 1 strip for €2, 3 strips for €5.

MARKING OF SCORE CARDS
As a courtesy to officials checking scorecards in stable ford competitions, we would greatly appreciate if members and visitors would record their stable ford points opposite gross score on the scorecard. Please also ensure your computer input corresponds with your scorecard to prevent any inaccuracies, many thanks for your cooperation.
DRESS CODE
Our dress code for the Gold Coast is slacks and polo shirts. Please note sports jerseys, jeans and track suit bottoms are unacceptable on the golf course. Thank you for your adherence

MENS CLUB POLICY RE. GENERAL PLAY SCORES
Please note the Men’s club policy when playing non-competitive general play rounds that are returned for handicap purposes. A fee of €5 is to be paid at the Kiosk prior to your round or submitted into the scorecard box in an envelope with your name and date when the office is closed or unattended. Members are required to pre-register the round via the Golf Ireland App and following return of the score it must be attested by your marker on their Golf Ireland App. Please return the signed physical scorecard clearly marked General Play as normal into the scorecard box. Members cannot play handicap counting general play rounds on competition days. There is no charge for members playing initial rounds to obtain a club handicap or playing leisurely social golf.

The average number ball marks made on greens per round is 8 per golfer. Assuming only 130 rounds are played each day on our course. Our greens receive 1040 impressions daily. 31000 per month OR MORE THAN 374,400 per year. Are you wondering how to make a putt under these conditions? Please repair your pitch marks.

INTRODUCTORY RATES FOR NEW MEMBERS
Here at the Goldcoast Golf Club we have fantastic Introductory rates for new members.
Our membership season runs from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024. Our championship golf course is maintained in excellent condition offering superb playability, with 18 holes open all year round. Our pristine greens are much admired and the scenery is spectacular with unrivalled views of Dungarvan Bay, the Irish Sea and Helvick Head.
Members can relax in the comfortable surroundings of our hotel bar and restaurant where delicious food is served by our friendly staff. We can also offer very attractive packages for dual membership to both the golf club and leisure centre.

EILEEN MURPHY MEMORIAL TROPHY
The final of the Eileen Murphy Trophy takes place in September in Cork Golf Club. The competition is a Foursomes format, and qualifying rounds will take place in home club to send the winners to the final.
The qualifying rounds are still on-going and we would like to see as many as possible taking part. The handicap limit is 36 with a stepdown if necessary and entry is €3 per round. If you would like to represent the club and take on the challenge of Little Island – now’s your chance!!!

GOLD COASTERS
Due to extreme weather conditions on Thursday, our game was cancelled, but looking forward to our get together next week!!
All members new and longstanding are welcome to join us, and there is no handicap limit. We play a 9/10 Hole singles each week with the exception of a monthly scramble which is proving very popular with everyone!!

LADY CAPTAIN’S OUTING
This year we have secured a great deal with Cahir Park GC for our outing on Sat 22nd July. Tee will be from 2pm, which will give us time to enjoy tea/coffee and scones before golf. The cost of the day will be €40 to include golf, main course, dessert, tea/coffee.
Please add your name to sheet in kiosk with a deposit of €20 in envelope with name, date and outing clearly printed. All envelopes to be handed into office.

INTER CLUB TEAMS
MUNSTER EAST AIG SENIOR FOURSOMES
Our Senior Foursomes team travel to Mallow GC on Sat 15th July to play the winners of Bandon/Mallow. We are sending one of our own back to home ground and hoping she will give the rest of the team an inside track on course management!!! Wishing the team and manager the very best of luck, support on the day would be appreciated!!
MUNSTER EAST AIG JUNIOR CUP
Our Junior Cup team under the guidance of Miriam have a bye until 5th August when they travel to Muskerry GC for the quarter-finals. Wishing Miriam and her team the very best of luck for their up-coming match, more details to follow!!
JOHN MCGRATH MEMORIAL CLASSIC
The fundraiser classic will be held again this year on Wednesday 12th July over 32 non-stop holes. These fundraiser classics have been run by our club for many years and are always a fantastically co-ordinated event due to the expertise of the men’s club!! The catering stations both on and off the course are assisted by a ladies club team on a shift rota to alleviate tired legs!!
This year the classic will be members and guests only due to the waiting lists from previous years, so guys and dolls get your teams together for what promises to be a cracking day out!!
CARE OF GREENS AND BUNKERS
We would like to ask our players to please repair pitch marks on the greens, even if they are not your own!! Also please rake bunkers, now that they are back in play.
HANDICAP COMMITTEE
Our Handicap secretary and committee are meeting on a regular basis to discuss the input from the ladies in accordance to their handicaps. A review will be on-going throughout the year in relation to above decision.
