A WORD OF THANKS
Just to say a word of thanks to all the wonderful members and staff of the Gold Coast Golf Club for the great support that was given to our recent fundraiser for Dungarvan Lions Club Christmas appeal thanks to the sponsors of the prizes and all who helped in any way to make it a huge success as always. It makes you proud to be a member of such a wonderful club, well done to everyone again.
CARE OF THE GREENS
As the weather has turned seasonally wet special care must be taken for the care of our greens, please repair all pitch marks carefully. If you are playing winter league each team has been assigned two or three greens to care for please check kiosk for details.
WINTER LEAGUE
The John White Carpentry sponsored winter league is now entering its closing stages and we are now in the middle of week 10 of the league with some great scoring after taking place. Please remember to mark your team name on the score card as it makes life easier for the kiosk staff to enter the your scores. The top 8 teams will go forward to the quarter finals in February.

Some of our ladies have now completed the statuary 10 rounds and are replacing their worst rounds with better scores which will undoubtedly change the team positions once again. After round 12 the team rankings are Team Chardonnay still in the lead and Team Pinot Noir closing the gap with Team Shiraz still in the mix. Well done to everybody so far!! Our weather has been not been conducive to the game of golf in spite of the fact that temperatures are quite good for the time of year – I think this global warming at it’s best!! Hopefully the next few weeks will bring us better conditions to make the game more pleasurable. The end date for the league is the last week of February, so still a chance to get your scores in!!
Reminder ladies, you must enter your name and date in the book provided each time you play, also any rounds played from 11 onwards incur an entry fee of €3.
CAPTAIN’S DRIVE IN
Our Captain’s drive in is scheduled for Sunday 6th March when Seamus and Isobel will start the golfing
season at the Gold Coast, wishing them both the very best of luck for their year ahead!!
MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
NEW MEMBER DEALS
Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer
for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
The management and staff have implemented all the safety procedures to protect both staff and members who wish to play golf at the Gold Coast GC. Please keep yourself informed of new notifications within the club!
