Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 8th October 2023

Our winter league will commence on the weekend 28th October 2023 which is the bank holiday weekend. Last Monday league Captains attended a meeting with the winter league Committee to finalise teams and format for the league. A very good meeting took place with plenty of discussion. Anyone not involved last year that is interested in playing please give your name into the kiosk as soon as possible. We will have full report in next week’s notes.

Our next committee meeting will take this Wednesday 11th October at 7 30 in the Dugout bar.

This competition is up and running. If you are interested in playing, please give Alan Darcy a ring on 0876987387 and he will give you all the details and add you to the WhatsApp group for further updates.

We offer our condolences to Maurice Swan and family on the sad passing of his sister Angela D’Arcy which occurred during the week.  Also our sympathies to Nicholas Keane on the death of his brother John (Sean) which also occurred this week.  May God have mercy on both their gentle souls, RIP.

The average number ball marks made on greens per round is 8 per golfer. Assuming only 130 rounds are played each day on our course. Our greens receive 1040 impressions daily. 31000 per month OR MORE THAN 374,400 per year. Are you wondering how to make a putt under these conditions?

Please repair your pitch marks even if they are not yours and always, please shout fore if your ball goes in a direction that it was not intended to, for it will make the course safer for everyone.

The golf notes that go out every week on the papers and online are for all members of the Club. If you have anything that you want shared on the notes, please contact me 083 4862771 or Irene or Brian at the Kiosk on 058 44055.
