AGM

Our AGM was held on Friday 5th November at 7.30pm in the Gold Coast Hotel and proved to be a very positive and productive meeting. Our lady Captain Anne opened the proceedings with two very important presentations, namely Golf Ireland Silver Spoon for outstanding stroke play golf which was presented to Aisling Fennell. Aisling has been playing phenomenal golf all year reducing her handicap from 8 to 3 and is the lowest handicap lady we have had in the club for many years!

Golfer of the Year recipient was our very hard working Handicap Secretary Mary Kiely which was no surprise as Mary also played fabulous golf during the year along

with 2 Hole in One’s. Mary was extremely diligent in her role as club Secretary and is even more diligent in her new role in every aspect of the new handicap system. Both Mary and Aisling deserved their accolades and we congratulate them on super golf!! Well Done Girls.

Our ever efficient Hon. Sec. Elaine read her report of the years events which was very detailed and informative and covered a multitude of events for such a short period. She spoke of the consequences of the pandemic and all it entailed, despite this Elaine did a fabulous job in organising everything and we are so lucky to have her. Thank you Elaine for your Trojan work throughout the year!

Angela, our Treasurer who looked after the finances did a miraculous job in keeping us very solvent throughout the stop, start COVID19 restrictions reported a very healthy bank balance. Angela has decided to step down as treasurer but is staying on committee and handing the role to Mairead in whom we have the utmost confidence. Thank you Angela for keeping us afloat and solvent, the Minister for Finance would not have done better!!

Our Lady Captain Anne gave her wonderful speech in which she thanked everyone on committee for their help and advice throughout her tenure as Captain. “Little did I think that back at the AGM in 2019 when I accepted the role that I’d be giving my final speech in 2021” Anne has been a very steadying influence, working away behind the scenes during the pandemic in readiness for our staggered comeback, but once we were back the show was on the road!! Her final duty on the night was handing over the reins to incoming Lady Captain Isobel who accepted the challenge and looked forward to her year and said it was an honour to serve her club. Wishing Isobel the very best for 2022 and thank you Anne for your years as our Captain, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you and here’s to your long overdue retirement!!

Our new L. Captain Isobel is very fortunate to hold onto almost the entire present committee, only two members have stepped down after years of service and we thank them most sincerely for their input to date. We have new replacements and a bit of a re-shuffle within the committee including our new Lady Vice Captain Rosie who we are delighted has taken up the challenge.. We are very fortunate to have secured a comparatively young committee and we look forward to new and fresh ideas for the coming year!

SOUTH EAST COASTAL ALLIANCE

The alliance is an ideal opportunity to play other courses for €10 green fee and €10 one off registration fee payable on the first day of play. Dungarvan have agreed to start the ball rolling with our first outing on Thursday 25th November, tee from 10.00 – 11.30am. We would like to see as many beginners as possible as this is a great way to integrate with members from other clubs, and is always a lovely day out!! Please give a thumbs up on our group if you would like to play. All information and any changes to any event will be posted on our WhatsApp group.

MARKING OF CARDS

Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.

NEW MEMBER DEALS
