Our Fred Perry team travelled to Mitchelstown Golf Club yesterday Sunday to take on the home team in a closely fought game but unfortunately, we were beaten after a great performance from our panel namely Kieran Cullinan/ Micheal Wall, Colm McArthur/ Lar Whelan, Tony Moore/ Nicky Hayes, Aodh O Murchu/James Darcy, Micheal Kavanagh/ Nicholas Power organised by Captains Bob O Brien/ Liam Clancy.  Well done to all involved, you did yourselves and the club proud.

Following on from a great win in their first outing in this competition against Williamstown Golf Club, round two will see the mixed team taking on Clonmel at home here in the Gold Coast Golf Club, this Sunday 14th May, time to be decided. We wish all involved the best of luck.

As a courtesy to officials checking scorecards in stableford competitions, we would greatly appreciate if members and visitors would record their stable ford points opposite gross score on the scorecard. Please also ensure your computer input corresponds with your scorecard to prevent any inaccuracies, many thanks for your cooperation.

Our first open team event will take place on Wed 17th May kindly sponsored by Comserv. The 3 ball team event will be a champagne scramble format which is a favourite with many golfers. The midweek golf has proved to be very popular as the weather is improving with the course in outstanding condition!! All members new and longstanding are welcome to join us, and there is no handicap limit. We play a 9 Hole singles each week with the exception of a monthly scramble which is proving very popular with everyone!!

Many thanks to Anne for continuing to organise the event with presentation of the most wonderful prizes each week!!

The Carton Cup Inter Club event is a 9 hole match play for the high handicap ladies, from 37 upwards. It is run on a format of a game on home course and a game on the opponent’s course, thus deciding the winner of each leg!! This year we are entering a team, with our first game at home v Cobh GC on Mon 8th May @ 6pm and second game in Cobh on Sat 13th May @2pm.

Team : Mary Fennell, Aine Campbell, Rita Thompson, Brigid Coffey, Emma Fortune. Reserve : Joan O’Dea

Wishing our ladies the very best of luck for their inaugural game on home ground. Your support would be appreciated!!

Katie Kiely, Karen Darcy, Leanne Bumster, Gillian Cashman and Inseun Kim under the guidance of their manager Rosie Murphy took on Tipperary GC on Saturday 6th May on home ground. The team members who teed off in perfect sunny conditions fought a great battle against a very strong and accomplished Tipp team and had to succumb to a superior side!!

The Tipperary ladies were very complimentary of our players and also our course which showcased itself spectacularly against the azure blue of Dungarvan Bay.

Congrats to our players who displayed some great golf, to the caddies and manager Rosie for a job well done!!

Our foursomes team who had a nail biting victory over Thurles GC take on our neighbours West Waterford in the next leg of the tournament, date and venue TBA

We would like to ask our players to please repair pitch marks on the greens, even if they are not your own!! Also to be vigilant to rake the bunkers, now that they are back in play.

Our mixed team are through to the second round after claiming victory over Williamstown GC, next is home to Clonmel on Sunday the 14th May.

Our Handicap secretary and committee are meeting on a regular basis to discuss the input from the ladies in accordance to their handicaps. A review will be on-going throughout the year in relation to above decision.

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Rosie and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
