JOHN WHITE CARPENTRY WINTER LEAGUE

The John White Carpentry Sponsored winter league final took place on Sunday 27th February in brilliant sunshine with two new teams on the block namely an Rinn B and Kilrossanty with an Rinn B coming out on top and putting their name on the role of honour. A great achievement for a team only new to the event.

Comhghairdeachas mór don foireann An Rinn B a bhuaigh a céad Sraith Geimhridh an Domhnach seo caite in aghaidh Chill Rosanta. Maith sibh araon.

The dinner and the presentation took place in the hotel where our Captain Seamus was joined by President Frank and Lady Captain Isobel. The Captain began his speech as gailage in honour of the winning team.  He then presented the winning An Rinn B Captain Darren O’ Droma and his team of merry men with their prizes, and runner up prizes to Kilrossanty Captain Tony Fitzgerald and his team. He then made a presentation to Liam Clancy Captain of the Stradbally team, winners of the group section.

He thanked John White for his sponsorship of the league which he has done for the last 6 years which is much appreciated by the club. John then congratulated the winners and announced he will be sponsoring the winter league for 2022/23 season. Captain Isobel then presented best lady in the league to Irene Lynch.

Captain Seamus then thanked the kiosk staff Irene and Brian for all their hard work helping with the running of the event and also to Bob who helped with the photos for the paper. He thanked Mark, and then Rob and the green keeping staff for all their hard work in keeping the course in tip top shape and finally to all the members and the team Captains who arranged the teams and made the league such a huge success again this year.  Just a number that comes to mind by President Frank, there was 1,700 induvial rounds played over the course of the league, so well done to everyone.  Looking forward to next year already.

Winter league winners were as follows; Section winners Stradbally, best individual scores 1st Peter Hayes, 2nd JJ Quinn, Best Gross Michael White, 3rd Sean O’Ciarba, 4th Seanie Mac Craith, 5th John W Walsh, Best Lady Irene Lynch.

MARKING OF CARDS

Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification

you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
