Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 6th February 2022

The John White Carpentry Sponsored Winter league in now in semi final stage which will be played next Sunday 13th February with first pairing teeing off at 9am followed by the second semi final at 9.45am.  The line up is as follows Cork v An Rinn B, Kilrossanty v The Village with the grand final taking place on Sunday 20th February. The presentation to the winners and runners up takes place after the final, details to follow. Best of luck to all taking part in the match play semi finals.

Even though our course and greens are drying out pitch marks are still a problem on the course at the moment so we are reminding members and visitors please repair the mark from your ball and if there are others marks on the green please repair those as well just to keep the greens in perfect conditions for everyone.

Work is still continuing on course upgrades with hedges been trimmed and new paths been put in and the old ones been reinstated with new filling. In the coming weeks new coloured flags will be put on all greens.  Well done to course management and the green keeping staff for their continued hard work.

The first round of this event for 2022 will take place in Carrick on Suir Golf Club on Sunday 13th February if you would like to compete please contact Alan Darcy on 087 6987387.

This event will place on Sunday 6th March when our two Captains will get the golfing season for 2022 here at the Gold Coast Golf Club up and running.  A little birdie tells me that both Seamus and Isobel are doing some serious practicing on the 1st tee box by night for this big event!  Best of luck to you both.

Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
