Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 31st May

Notes 31st May
Gold Coast Golf Club Notes 31st May 2020
Another great week weather wise for those within 5km of the course and able to play. Come the 8th of June more members will be able to participate when the distance from home becomes 20km.

New Members Welcome
We are delighted to welcome so many new members to the club just now. Committee & Club Members will be making themselves available over the next few weeks to accompany new members on the course. Helping with getting handicaps organised, going through the basic rules and the requirements on the course. Members at the Gold Coast will do everything they can to make you welcome so feel free to put your name down anytime with anyone and enjoy the camaraderie, the game and the stunning scenery.
Members old and new are reminded to check out the notice board adjacent to the first tee regarding local rules, dress codes etc
We are starting this Tues & Wed evening (5pm-7pm) a members evening where members will be able to play with some of the new members to facilitate getting handicaps. Please book your time on the BRS system. We will be doing this for the next few weeks

From next week it is proposed to publish one rule of golf per week. It will help new members learning the game and act as a refresher for existing members. That said golfers are forever learning about their game and encounter many rules in every round.

COURSE MAINTAINANCE
Huge credit to the course staff during the Covid 19 lockdown to keep the course in such fine condition. It’s a credit to all involved. When you get back playing you will see the great work that has been done by volunteers on the bunkers too. The results have been stunning is what the feedback says. There are still a few bunkers to do so if you have a couple of free hours please contact the kiosk and they will arrange for your availability.

COMPETITIONS
From 8th June, we’re allowed Club competitions, so we’ll be running an 18 hole Singles Club competition on Tuesday’s (instead of the Seniors). We will have a similar competition on Friday’s, Saturdays and Sundays
There will also be a 9-hole or 10-hole ongoing competition running for the summer (format and fees will be finalised over the next couple of weeks)

LADIES NOTES
I am delighted to let you all know we are now open for business again after the initial lockdown, and the course is in magnificent condition. It now looks rested and fresh without the divots and pitch marks, it’s a pure delight!! Our undivided praise to our fantastic course staff for the work throughout the last few months which is very evident from the first tee to the eighteenth green, well done!! While the Corona Virus has really put the clampers on competitions, meetings and social gatherings within the golfing sector, we are back on the fairways since Monday 18 th May getting plenty of fresh air and playing a few holes within the 5km distance for now. From Monday 8 th June the 20km distance comes into play and hopefully we will see a few more ladies as the restrictions are lifted in the next few weeks. Our committee members are working hard to get some club competitions up and running while implementing the guidelines aid down by the ILGU, more information to follow next week.
New Members Deals
Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Anne and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!!
