Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 31st July 2022

JIMMY BRUEN

Commiserations to our Bruen Team who were narrowly defeated by Clonmel Golf Club away on Saturday in the Munster Quarter finals.  In inclement conditions our team put up a great show and there were some terrific matches.  It proved to be a very close contest, but in the end, it wasn’t to be our day as the home side took the honours.  Well done to our players and management for the effort put in throughout the tournament and best of luck to Clonmel as they progress.

PRESIDENTS PRIZE

Our President Frank will host his Presidents Prize on the weekend of the 19th to 21st August 2022.  Qualifying rounds on Fri and Sat and the final on Sunday with a shotgun start. The President’s scramble takes place on Wed 17th Aug.  Timesheets opening online this week.  Full tournament details to follow.

ON THE COURSE

A few members have contacted me regarding stray balls on the course with no shout been called. It’s most important to shout fore if your ball goes in the wrong direction than which you intended for everyone’s safety.

MARKING OF CARDS

Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.

NEW MEMBER DEALS

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
