Presidents Prize 2023
We will start the Presidents week off on this Wednesday 30th August with a two x 2 persons Scramble with a shotgun start at 5.30 PM with an on the hoof BBQ. For those wishing to take part please have your names on the time sheet by 12noon on Wednesday 30th August as the draw will take place at 2pm.Entry will dictate the number of holes to be played.
This year the President’s Prize will take place on Friday 1st Sept, Saturday 2nd Sept and Sunday 3rd Sept. The competition will take the usual format with qualifying on Friday and Saturday and a shotgun start on Sunday at 10am for those qualified. It will be Blue and Stable ford. This year for the 1st time we are introducing a new element to the Presidents Prize, a Veteran’s Prize which will be for those aged 70 and older. Booking is now open for this competition, however you must have booked your time before Wednesday 30th August at 3.30pm. There will then be a draw for playing partners which will have everybody playing within 20 minutes of their preferred time. Once the draw is made it is not possible for members to change their times. The final round on Sunday 3rd will be a shotgun start at 10 am. With the top 39 players qualifying. Starting tee and partners will be posted on the timesheet at 9 p.m. on Saturday night. You must have your membership and Golf Ireland affiliation up to date.

4) You must have a fully active Golf Ireland Handicap (20 counting Scores on your handicap record)

How much does it cost to enter?
This Year the entry fee will be €25.00. For this you get entry into the competition, a goodie bag on the qualifying round and a meal after the final round. All members are more than welcome to attend the meal and prize presentation which will take place at approximately 3 pm.

ON THE COURSE
We are getting great feedback from visitors and members alike on the wonderful condition of the course. Please to remember to repair all pitch marks whether yours and someone else’s Well done to course Management and Green keeping staff on the excellent upkeep. Our regular Tuesday and Friday opens are very popular and offer great value. We look forward to welcoming many more to our lovely course.
DRESS CODE
Our dress code for the Gold Coast is slacks and polo shirts. Please note sports jerseys, jeans and track suit bottoms are unacceptable on the golf course. Thank you for your adherence.
DID YOU KNOW
The average number ball marks made on greens per round is 8 per golfer. Assuming only 130 rounds are played each day on our course. Our greens receive 1040 impressions daily. 31000 per month OR MORE THAN 374,400 per year. Are you wondering how to make a putt under these conditions? Please repair your pitch marks.
WEEKLY GOLF NOTES
The golf notes that go out every week on the papers and online are for all members of the Club. If you have anything that you want shared on the notes, please contact me or Irene or Brian at the Kiosk on 058 44055.
MARKING OF CARDS
Can we ask all members to sign their cards in a legible signature to make it easier for a kiosk staff to upload the cards also with the weather having taken to a wet period pitch marks are starting to appear on the greens please remember to repair all marks.

Here at the Goldcoast Golf Club we have fantastic Introductory rates for new members.
Our membership season runs from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024. Our championship golf course is maintained in excellent condition offering superb playability, with 18 holes open all year round. Our pristine greens are much admired and the scenery is spectacular with unrivalled views of Dungarvan Bay, the Irish Sea and Helvick Head.
Members can relax in the comfortable surroundings of our hotel bar and restaurant where delicious food is served by our friendly staff. We can also offer very attractive packages for dual membership to both the golf club and leisure centre.

PRESIDENT’S PRIZE WEEKEND
Our Lady President Eilo Fitzgerald will hold her very special weekend over the 1st,2nd and 3rd Sept with qualifying days on Fri and Sat and shotgun start on Sunday. Eilo is a long term member of the club and has served on committee for several years including the honour of Captaincy for which she excelled!! She has been working very hard to date to make sure all goes to plan for her big event!

The mixed foursomes are now heading for the semi-final stage, and the contenders are ramping up their game to get somewhere within the winning enclosure!!
This is where the fun and games start and the banter between the teams will be riveting. All eyes will be on the emerging pairings from next round, the best of luck to all and Enjoy!!
EILEEN MURPHY MEMORIAL TROPHY
The final of the Eileen Murphy Trophy takes place in September in Cork Golf Club, and some fabulous qualifying scores were returned by our ladies in a bid to compete in Little Island.
After all cards were checked, the overall winners were Betty Joyce and Inseun Kim with a fabulous score of 43pts, closely followed by Esther McGuckian and Martina Corkery with another great score of 42pts. Well done girls and congrats to Betty and Inseun who go forward to represent the Club with our Best Wishes!!!
GOLD COASTERS
We held our monthly scramble last Thursday with a great turnout on the day and perfect weather for the occasion. The winners returned a great score and were presented with beautiful prizes for their effort!! All members new and longstanding are welcome to join us, and there is no handicap limit.

CARE OF GREENS AND BUNKERS
We would like to ask our players to please repair pitch marks on the greens, even if they are not your own!! Also please rake bunkers, now that they are back in play.
HANDICAP COMMITTEE
Our Handicap secretary and committee are meeting on a regular basis to discuss the input from the ladies in accordance to their handicaps. A review will be on-going throughout the year in relation to above decision.
