JUVENILE CLINIC A BIG SUCCESS
A visit the Gold Coast Golf Club last week by Gold Ireland’s Jennifer Hickey (Development & Club Support Officer-Munster) proved a great success. Organised by President Frank Mulvihill, eleven adult Leaders participated in the course aimed at the development of Juvenile golfers at the club. The aim – that each juvenile golfer be facilitated to reach their potential in a friendly and enjoyable surrounding.
The course was practical and all those in attendance put their pitching wedges and putters into action in a series of warm-up exercises, chipping skills and putting games. It is fair to say there were some very competitive Leaders present on the night!
When working with juveniles Safety is a priority and Jennifer demonstrated some fail-proof methods that should form the basis of all activities. The clinic comprised 6 main topics: 1. Equipment zones. 2. Warm Up Games. 3. Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS). 4. Safety. 5. Chipping exercises, and 6. Putting exercises. Feedback from the session was very positive with participants admitting they had found it very enjoyable and each had lots of fun. The leaders will now apply what they learned at the clinic with the Juvenile golfers at the Gold Coast.

MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
