WINTER LEAGUE REVIEW
John white Carpentry sponsored winter league Captains held a meeting on Monday night to discuss changes to this year’s winter league. The following are the changes approved by the club committee, the best eight scores achieved by an individual player, will count towards the team score. In the case of a substitute being required, the minimum period will be 3 weeks. The substitute will be taken from the top of the list of substitutes available. There can only be one lady member on each team.
WINTER GOLF PLAYING HANDICAP
In order to reflect the reduced length of the course, bunkers GUR and preferred lies for the winter months, from Saturday 27th November players will play from 88% of their Course Handicap rounded. The competition software and label printout will indicate a person’s playing handicap on the day of entry.

CLUB CAPTAIN’S NORTH MON REUNION
Our Club Captain Seamus had a lovely reunion recently with a former pal from his schooldays in the North Mon. In a discussion that came about by chance on the day of the President’s prize, the possibility emerged that a former close pal of Seamus, whom he had not met since his schooldays, was a member in our club. Following a few phone calls, it was confirmed that Victor Mullins was indeed the school friend that Seamus had not met since they left school 51 years ago. I am reliably told that when the two met around the 17th hole two weeks ago, their golf partners were left waiting around, with time for coffee, while the two lads relived their youth. Seamus and Victor played in a three ball today. The third member of the group had to remind them, on a number of occasions, that they were about to play off the wrong tee as they were so engaged in conversation. On another occasion he informed them both, that they needed to reverse about thirty yards so as to play their next shot. It was lovely to be a part of this special reunion of “The Boys of North Mon”.

We will be holding this event in conjunction with the Lion’s Club Hamper Appeal with entries being donated as part of our annual fundraiser for the cause. The drawsheet is online and also posted in the kiosk, so please check either for your playing partners on the day. Any updates or changes will be posted on our What’sApp group, all donations and the purchase of raffle tickets are greatly appreciated!!
MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and
most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
