GOLFER OF THE YEAR 2023
With just two competitions and the final of the singles match-play left, the following is the position at the moment: (Match-play points are included up to the final and only Michael Kavanagh and John White can gain an extra 2 points for winning the final).
Colin McArthur 81 pts from 9 counting
John White 79 pts from 9 counting
Nicholas Power 74 from 9 counting
John W Walsh 71 from 9 counting
Nathan O’Connor 70 from 9 counting
Billy Long 69 from 8 counting
Adam O’Riordan 68 from 9 counting
Darren Williams 64 from 8 counting
Pat Kiely 63 from 7 counting
Brian O’Connor 62 from 9 counting

What all this means is that the people with less than 9 counting who enter the final competitions are guaranteed 5 points if they have only 8 counting and anyone on 7 can get up to 10 points if the enter the 2 competitions. All players can add further points to their total by featuring in the top ten. Taking all this into account it is possible for any of the above to win Golfer of the Year 2023.
