JOHN McGRATH R.I.P.
It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of our Goldcoast founder John McGrath. The Club would like to offer its sincerest condolences to Ann and the extended McGrath family.
John is reposing at The Gold Coast Golf Hotel (X35 EA40) on Monday afternoon 25th October from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Prayers at 6.30 p.m. Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning 26th October in St. Augustine’s Church, Abbeyside. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.
A guard of honour will take place and members are asked to assemble in Goldcoast attire at the gate of John’s residence at Landsend, Abbeyside (X35 KX92) at 10.15am Tuesday morning where we’ll walk the last km to Abbeyside Church. Past and present officers are asked to wear their Club blazers.
As a mark of respect to John, the golf course remains closed on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm.
GOLDCOAST MEN’S CLUB AGM 2021
The AGM of the Gold Coast Men’s Club will take place in the Gold Coast Hotel on Sunday November 14th 2021 at 5.30p.m. A number of proposed changes have been made to the Club Constitution to bring it up to date. These will be presented at the AGM for ratification. Any club member who wishes to get detailed information on this item can do so by contacting the Club Secretary. Notice of motions for the AGM must be given to the Club Secretary by November 1st. Notice of nominations for Club Officers and members of the general committee must be made, in writing, to the Club Secretary by November 1st. The sheets, showing nominations for committee and motions received for the AGM, will be posted in the kiosk shortly after November 1st.
WINTER LEAGUE
This year’s league section will begin on Saturday November 6th and finish on Friday January 28th. This will be followed by the match play section in February. The number of rounds from each team member contributing to the team score will again be 10. Club Members, who have not been contacted and who are interested in taking part, can give their names in at the kiosk. The entry fee is 25 euro.
We had an excellent attendance at our meeting of team representatives recently. Teams will be made up of 7 men and 1 lady. The number of teams we expect will be between fourteen and sixteen. Club Members, who have not been contacted and who are interested in taking part, can give their names in at the kiosk. We hope to finalize teams at our meeting this week.
COMMITTEE GOLF OUTING
A golf outing has been organized for the committee members in Dromoland Golf Club in Co Clare on Tuesday the 2nd of November any committee member wishing to go please contact John White, open to the first twelve.
COURSE INFORMATION
Flagsticks maybe removed from holes please be aware of protocols from Golf Ireland its recommended that only one player from the group handles the flagstick and carries hand sanitizer with them at all times to be used after putting flagstick back in the hole.
SOUTHERN JUNIOR ALLIANCE
