JOHN WHITE CARPENTRY SPONSORED WINTER LEAGUE 2022/23
This year’s winter league kicks off on Saturday 29th October and runs until the 10th February 2023. The format this year will 9 teams of 12 players with 10 rounds to be played. 6 teams out of the 12 will go through to the play offs. Entry fee for the league is €25 which must be paid before players first round of the winter league for scores to be eligible. Best of luck to the 9 Captains and their teams, it promises to be a very competitive winter league going on previous years. A huge thanks must go to our sponsor again this year John White.

PRESENTATION TO DUNGARVAN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
Last week Goldcoast Golf Club presented three specialized seats to Dungarvan Community Hospital in memory of the late John McGrath RIP. The funds raised to purchase these were from entries and donations received from the very successful charity golf day hosted during the summer. An enormous amount of organization and planning went into the event and a huge thank you to all our members, visitors, friends, the McGrath family and anyone that contributed in any way in supporting this worthy cause. The chairs were very gratefully received by Paula French on behalf of Dungarvan Community Hospital and they will provide extra comfort to enhance the daily lives of the residents.
HOLE IN ONE
Well done to Brian Fahey on achieving his first ever hole in one at the weekend. It was a perfect pitching wedge into the 8th hole, congratulations Brian!
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Huge congratulations much go to our very popular winner for the 2022 season namely John Hallinan. The young man from Touraneena had a great years golf winning a major in the summer as he took the honours in the Captain’s prize and returned some great scores in the golfer of the year competitions which lead to him ending the year on a high with this award. Well-done John.
ORDER OF MERIT
Well done to Kealan Walsh on winning the Order of Merit for 2022 a great achievement for this young man from Ring who is only a member of the Club for the last few years. Congratulations Kealan.
MIXED FOURSOMES
Congratulations to Nicky Dee and Lady Captain Isobel Kirwan who won the mixed foursomes overcoming Nicholas Power and Ruth Hannigan on the 17th after a great battle.
MARKING OF CARDS
Players need to be aware that you can’t for any reason mark your own card while playing your round of golf. You must give your card to your playing partner who will mark your card and you will mark his until round is complete. Only then will you get your card back to enter in to the computer. Spot checks of cards will be carried out by our course ranger.
END OF YEAR DINNER
This event will take place on 12th November in the Gold Coast Hotel where a sit-down meal will be served and our end of year prizes will be presented. Tickets for the event are priced at 28 euros. A great night to catch up with friends, hope to see you all there.
AGM
Our AGM for 2022 will take place in the Gold Coast Hotel on Sunday 20th November at 5pm, members welcome.
NON-RETURN OF COMPLETED SCORECARDS
From 31st March 2022 an automated process will be put in place to apply an automatic penalty score if a score is pre-registered but not submitted. This rule applies to both General Play and official Competitions. The player is now totally responsible for submitting their score once it has been pre-registered. If they fail to do so without providing the committee with a valid reason, an automated penalty score will be applied. Mandatory Handicap on Scorecards. From 31st March 2022, Golf Ireland requires that the player’s Handicap Index is verified before playing and is the required handicap on a scorecard

CLUB MIXED FOURSOMES
Our club mixed foursomes was down to the final match between Nicky Dee & Isobel Kirwan against Nicholas Power & Ruth Hannigan on Sunday last 23rd Oct. Nicky and Isobel clinched it on the 17th hole in a very exciting game. Well done to the winners and everybody who took part.
MOORINGS WINTER LEAGUE
Our Winter League, again kindly sponsored by the Moorings Bar & Restaurant gets underway on Monday 31st Oct. This year we are running a 10 and 18 Hole mixed team event, giving members the option of playing either!! Entries to date have surpassed previous years, with many more to be added to draw sheet. We anticipate that we will have at least 3 18 Hole players and 4 10 Hole players on each team, draw will be made in the next week which will be posted on the notice board and our WhatsApp group.
Entry for this event is €40 which includes a €10 registration and €30 for the first 10 rounds which are obligatory from each member, and is payable in advance of your first game!! Terms and conditions are posted on notice board and WhatsApp group, please make yourself aware of same before play.
GOLD COASTERS
The midweek 9 Hole is proving to be quite popular with new and long term members coming together for a social outing with a cuppa and catch-up afterwards. We have changed the day to Thursday to facilitate our Bridge Club ladies, our next outing will be Thur 27th Oct and we are hoping to run this event through the winter with a change of tee times. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Registration is 2pm on the day with Anne Keane, many thanks to Anne for organising the event and the wonderful presentation prizes!! END OF YEAR DINNER
Our annual dinner will take place in the Gold Coast Hotel on Saturday 12th November at 6pm. As always this is a lovely social gathering where notable awards are presented, including match play events, Order of Merit and Golfer of the Year. All members are welcome to attend and the cost is €28, tickets available in kiosk.
