Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 20th March 2022

We offer our Condolences to James Hayes on the death of his brother Barry which occurred during the week we also offer our sympathy to Henry McGrath on the death of his mother Bridie. May god have mercy on both their gentle souls RIP.

Golf Ireland have released the dates for the inter club competition. We will have full details over the coming weeks.

The new flags on the greens are getting great encouraging comments from both members and visitors alike, nice to hear with all the course improvements on going. Well done to all.

This continued last weekend in Carrick on Suir Golf club. Results to follow next week.

The course is drying out well but the greens need to be continually carried for and we ask players to please be mindful to repair all pitch marks on the greens.

Golf lessons with Colm Carew will begin shortly for beginners and improvers in group settings. If you are thinking of upgrading your game now is the chance as we are in the process of organising these events. Due to the inclemency of the weather the timeframe of the lessons has to be discussed and dates confirmed. More details to follow, in the meantime keep it in mind as sheets will be posted for names of those interested!!

Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.

The management and staff have implemented all the safety procedures to protect both staff and members who wish to play golf at the Gold Coast GC. Please keep yourself informed of new notifications within the club!
