Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 1st October 2023

WINTER LEAGUE

Our winter league will commence on the weekend 28th October 2023 which is the bank holiday weekend.  Last years Captains will attend a meeting with the winter league Committee tonight Monday 2nd October to finalise teams and format for the league. Full report next week. Anyone not involved last year that is interested in playing please give your name into the kiosk as soon as possible.

GOLFER OF THE YEAR 2023

With just two competitions and the final of the singles match-play left, the following is the position at the moment: (Match-play points are included up to the final and only Michael Kavanagh and John White can gain an extra 2 points for winning the final).

Colin McArthur 81 pts from 9 counting

John White 79 pts from 9 counting

Nicholas Power 74 from 9 counting

John W Walsh 71 from 9 counting

Nathan O’Connor 70 from 9 counting

Billy Long 69 from 8 counting

Adam O’Riordan 68 from 9 counting

Darren Williams 64 from 8 counting

Pat Kiely 63 from 7 counting

Brian O’Connor 62 from 9 counting

Kieran Cullinan  62 from 8 counting

What all this means is that the people with less than 9 counting who enter the final competitions are guaranteed 5 points if they have only 8 counting and anyone on 7 can get up to 10 points if the enter the 2 competitions. All players can add further points to their total by featuring in the top ten. Taking all this into account it is possible for any of the above to win Golfer of the Year 2023.

ORDER OF MERIT 2023

The Order of Merit will conclude as soon as Winter Rules are in play or Sunday 15th Oct, whichever comes first. Points for this competition are gained by scoring above par (36 pts) in stableford and below par (72) in stroke in weekend competitions. The following are the leaders at the moment:
