CAPTAINS WEEKEND
Our Captain John White held his captains on the weekend of the 10th 11th and 12th Sept and what an event it turned out to be with 117 members taking part. Friday and Saturday were qualifying days with the final on Sunday. Some great scoring took place on Friday evening with Alan Darcy leading the way with a round of 67. Saturdays Qualifier was played in brilliant sunshine with some great scoring again with Corey Roche bringing in a 68. The final took place on Sunday morning with a shot gun start been played in wet conditions but this didn’t dampen the mood of the members playing on the course which was in perfect order thanks to the hard work of the green keeping staff. Great scoring again with the winner posting a 68. Congratulations to Corey Roche on taking first prize. Second was Paul Lenihan and third going to Tony Keaver. The presentation took place in the Gold Coast hotel where a lovely meal of ribs and calcanon was served. Our president Brian got the prize giving ceremony under way, he spoke very highly of John and his achievements within the club and how well he served his role as captain over the last two years. Lady captain Anne was presented with flowers from the men’s club as her day took place on Sunday as well. The captain then delivered his speech which was well received by all present and went on to present his prizes to the winners. John was joined on the evening by his mother Mary to whom he also presented beautiful flowers, also present was his partner Martina, daughters Becky and Emma and on line from far away Dubai was his daughter Caroline, he was also joined by his brothers Tom and Michael. We as a club would to like to thank John for all his hard work over the last two years and wish him well in the future to enjoy some relaxing golf and well done once again on a fantastic weekend.

JUNIOR GOLF
A female panel is needed to help with our Junior Sector which will commence on Sunday evenings, start date to be confirmed. Garda vetting and a safeguarding course 1 is a requirement and will be organised online by the club.
If you can spare some time, please add your name to the panel, your help will be much appreciated.
MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
COVID 19
The guidelines for now are members with no restriction on households permitted per booking for social or club competitions. Meanwhile all regulations have to be adhered to when entering and playing your round. Members please make yourselves aware of the changing guidelines in relation to golf from the government and Golf Ireland, information regarding any changes will be posted on the whatsapp group.

There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including free tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
