Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 19th March 2023

The final of this year’s winter league takes place on Sunday 2nd April with the first tee off time at 10am.  We wish both Nire/ Tournenna and An Rinn all the best in the final. Will it be two in row for An Rinn or will the men from the Nire/ Tournenna turn the tables, that’s the question, watch this space. Presentation of Prizes will take place in the Bunker Bar after the Final.

Our monthly committee meeting takes place this Wednesday night at 7.30pm in the Bunker Bar at the Gold Coast Hotel.

Nice to see work continuing on the course with the new tee box being put in on the 12th and the extending of the 17th tee box. Please remember to repair all divots on the fairways and all pitch marks on the greens to keep the course in the top shape that we are known for.

The golf notes that go out every week on the papers and online are for all members of the Club. If you have anything that you want shared on the notes, please contact me on 083 4862771 or Irene or Brian at the kiosk on 058 44055.

Our dress code for the Gold Coast is slacks and polo shirts. Please note sports jerseys, jeans and track suit bottoms are unacceptable on the golf course. Thank you for your adherence.

Trials for preparation of this event are taking place in the Goldcoast on Saturday 1st April at 1pm.  We want to wish Captain of the team Michael Kavanagh and vice-Captain Alan Darcy all the best in the upcoming competition.

Captain’s Prize Weekend 16/17/18 June 2023

Due to inclement conditions over the past two weeks, we have been unable to play our Thursday 9 hole fun competition. Hopefully next week will bring us more favourable conditions!!

The midweek golf has proved to be very advantageous in keeping the swing active and playing other competitions in conjunction with the competition of the day!! Many

thanks to Anne for continuing to organise the event with presentation of the most wonderful prizes each week!!

Lady Captain Rosie and members would like to convey their heartfelt sympathies to Eoin Mansfield on the sad passing of his partner Liz which occurred last week.

Liz was a former member of our ladies club, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and also with John and Joan Mansfield at this very sad and difficult time. Rest In Peace Liz.

Ladies, we have a new consignment of club crested polo shirts in a range of trendy colours and club crested gilets now in stock. Our broad range of club clothing in mix and match colours look very smart and make wonderful and useful gifts and are available from the kiosk!!

The team members are now limbering up after their initial golf lessons with the PRO which is proving to be a great success. Onwards and Upwards for our teams!! Any

updates in relation to above will be posted on the WhatsApp group. If you have any used or unwanted golf balls that you wish to dispose of, please drop them into bucket in ladies locker room. These will be used for practice and lessons for our Inter Club teams, many thanks to those who have added to the bucket. Much appreciated!!

Our Handicap secretary and committee met to discuss the input from the ladies in accordance to their handicaps. A review will be on-going throughout the year in relation to above decision.

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Rosie and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
