LION’S CLUB CHRISTMAS APPEAL
Our presentation to Dungarvan Lions Club took place on Sunday last 19th December where our Lady Captain Isobel Kirwan presented Lion’s Club President Shay O’Connor with a cheque for €2,700, a fantastic amount of money raised between course management and members.
In her speech to the assembled crowd, who were outdoors and socially distanced, our Lady Captain spoke of the great work that the Lion’s Club do in the community. On accepting the cheque, the Lion’s club President Shay thanked the staff and members of the Gold Coast Golf Club for their huge generosity and their continued support of this worthy cause. He then proceeded with the Raffle Draw for the great prizes we had on offer.

10 HOLE WINTER LEAGUE
Teams as follows:
- Pinot Noir – Capt. Teresa Queally
- Shiraz – Capt. Miriam Matthews
- Merlot – Capt. Ruth Hannigan
D.Chardonnay – Capt. Mairead Ryan
- Prosecco – Capt. Bernie Morrissey
- Rose – Capt. Katie Kiely
Our 10 Hole Winter League results which are compiled and posted by Rosie on a weekly basis are changing dramatically with some very high scores being recorded. At the moment Team Chardonnay are in the runaway stakes, being chased by Team Pinot Noir and Team Shiraz in third position. The response and commitment from all members has been fantastic and team managers have to be commended for their attention to detail. Some of our ladies have now completed the statuary 10 rounds and are replacing their worst rounds with
better scores which will undoubtedly change the team positions once again. Well done to everybody so far!!
Reminder ladies, you must enter your name and date in the book provided each time you play.
MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
NEW MEMBER DEALS
Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
The management and staff have implemented all the safety procedures to protect both staff and members who wish to play golf at the Gold Coast GC. Please keep yourself informed of new notifications within the club!
