CARE OF THE GREENS
Over the last few weeks, it has become noticeable that pitch marks are not been repaired on the greens. To keep our greens in excellent condition we wish to make golfers mindful to please repair all pitch marks. At this time of year, even small pitch shots into the green can damage the surface.
To bring extra focus on repairing these marks, greens have been assigned to each of the Winter League teams as follows:
1st green Dungarvan, 2nd green Stradbally, 3rd green Dunhill/Bonmahon, 4th and 17th greens Nire/Tourneena, 5th green Cork, 6th green Kilmac, 7th green An Rinn A, 8th green An Rinn B, 9th green Ballinacourty, 10th green Abbeyside, 11th green Dun na Mainistreach, 12th green The Village, 13th and 18th greens Kilrossanty, 14th green Ardnahoe., 15th green Dungarvan B and 16th green Deise.
Thank you for your continued co-operation.

LIONS CLUB HAMPER APPEAL SCRAMBLE
The ladies club appeal kicked off on Sunday 5th Dec with a fun scramble which was kindly sponsored by Shaws Department Stores. The day was beautiful and sunny which added to the enjoyment of the afternoon with all of the ladies arriving in some form of Xmas attire including tree decorations?? It was a great afternoon of fun, banter and some very tasty festive treats, all thanks to our members. Our Lady Captain Isobel and Secretary Elaine held the presentation of prizes outdoors with a prize for everyone in the audience from a very extensive selection. Well done to all involved in organising the entire day, it was a credit to you and well done again, the What’sApp messages confirm how enjoyable the event was!! All proceeds plus donations on the day went to the appeal.
Tickets are also on sale for two beautiful hampers, turkey, ham and several other prizes until the 19th December when the draw will take place. This will be a Monster draw and tickets are on sale from the kiosk or Leisure Centre, be sure you are in if you want to win!!
Reminder, all proceeds from competitions in the week from the 6th Dec automatically go to the fund. Any updates or changes will be posted on our What’sApp group, all donations and the purchase of raffle tickets are greatly appreciated!!
MARKING OF CARDS
Golf Ireland guidelines have stated that all 3 handicaps must be recorded on cards for competition and casual rounds for handicap purposes. To avoid disqualification you must record your h/cap index, playing h/cap and most importantly the course h/cap, all of these are
available on the Golf Ireland app and also on screen when you log in for competitions. It is also important not to enter a zero for stableford competitions as it interferes with standard scratch, if you blank a hole just record the shots as the computer will adjust accordingly. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned no later than 30mins after you finish your round.
NEW MEMBER DEALS
Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Isobel and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
The management and staff have implemented all the safety procedures to protect both staff and members who wish to play golf at the Gold Coast GC. Please keep yourself informed of new notifications within the club!
