Our team travelled to Clonmel last Saturday morning to take on Monkstown with a bright and early start.  Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way, we lost 3/2.  The team under the guidance of Neill Dermody did themselves and the club proud.  The team was as follows: John White, John Hallahan, Darren Williams, Kevin Walsh and Brian McGill.  Thank you to all the caddies who helped and the members who came to support the team.

LADIES JUNIOR FOURSOMES

Our ladies travelled to Youghal Golf Club on Sunday afternoon to take on the home team.  After a hard fought battle we came out on the wrong side of the event, the ladies fought to the bitter end with the last game been decided on the 18th.  Well done to Elaine Nash and her team of Karen Darcy/ Leanne Bumster Martina Corkery/Geraldine Hallahan and Katie Kiely/ Mairead Ryan.  A huge gathering of members travelled to support the team which was great to see, well done all.

We had a great turnout again this week for our 10 hole competition, the day was perfect for golf with warm balmy conditions which reflected the scoring of the day!! Congrats to the winners who returned marvelous scores and well deserved the accolades!!

Our organiser Anne was off on a well deserved day away, so our deputy Mary took charge of the proceedings and the presentation of beautiful prizes organised by Anne.

All members new and longstanding are welcome to join us, and there is no handicap limit. We play a 9/10 Hole singles each week with the exception of a monthly scramble which is proving very popular with everyone!!

Many thanks to Anne for continuing to organise the event with presentation of the most wonderful prizes each week!!

INTER CLUB TEAMS

Junior Foursomes

Our Foursomes team under the guidance of their fantastic manager Elaine who got through to the Munster East semi-final met Youghal on home course on Sunday 2nd July. Our ladies went out in galeforce winds to try and secure victory for the club.  They played fantastic golf and provided great excitement to the finish for the watching supporters who travelled up from the Goldcoast in great numbers on the day.  It all hinged on the last putt on the 18th but unfortunately the match didn’t go in our favour and Youghal clinched a thrilling win for the home side.

The Youghal team were very complimentary of the standard of golf played by our ladies, and we wish Youghal the very best of luck in their next round.

A huge thank you to our wonderful team Leanne & Karen, Martina & Ger, Katie & Mairead and magnificent manager Elaine for their steadfast enthusiasm and effort put into each event. Well done ladies!!

MUNSTER EAST SENIOR FOURSOMES

Our Foursomes team travel to Mallow GC on Sat 15th July to play the winners of Bandon/Mallow. We are sending one of our own back to home ground and hoping she will give the rest of the team an inside track on course management!!! Wishing the team and manager the very best of luck, support on the day would be appreciated!!

JOHN MCGRATH MEMORIAL CLASSIC

The fundraiser classic will be held again this year on Wednesday 12th July over 32 non-stop holes. These fundraiser classics have been run by our club for many years and are always a fantastically co-ordinated event due to the expertise of the men’s club!! The catering stations both on and off the course are assisted by a ladies club team on a shift rota to alleviate tired legs!!

This year the classic will be members and guests only due to the waiting lists from previous years, so guys and dolls get your teams together for what promises to be a cracking day out!!

CARE OF GREENS AND BUNKERS

We would like to ask our players to please repair pitch marks on the greens, even if they are not your own!! Also please rake bunkers, now that they are back in play.

HANDICAP COMMITTEE

Our Handicap secretary and committee are meeting on a regular basis to discuss the input from the ladies in accordance to their handicaps. A review will be on-going throughout the year in relation to above decision.

NEW MEMBER DEALS

Ladies, if you had ever thought of taking up golf, now is the time to do it, our Lady Captain Rosie and any committee member would be delighted to take out potential members and showcase our beautiful course

and unrivalled scenery!! There are great deals on offer for new members and beginners including tuition, please contact our Director of Golf Irene or Brian in the kiosk on 058 44055 for more information.
