DONNCHADH DUNNE ELECTRICAL W.E.S. WINTER LEAGUE 2025/2026
The Gents Winter League semi-finals took place on Sunday and produced two competitive matches.
First on the tee were Nire/Touraneena and Northern Alliance. After a closely contested encounter, Nire/Touraneena held their nerve to secure the win and book their place in the final, where they will meet Dunhill.
Dunhill progressed after overcoming Abbeyside in the second semi-final. Well done to all players who took part in both matches.
The Grand Final will take place on Sunday 22nd March at 10.00am, when the 2026 Winter League Champions will be crowned. Best of luck to both teams.
ON THE COURSE
Two of our members recorded fantastic achievements on the course over the weekend.
Colin McArthur had a hole-in-one on the 12th hole during Sunday’s Singles competition, while Rosie Murphy scored a superb albatross 2 on the par-5 16th hole — an exceptional accomplishment.
Congratulations to both on these outstanding shots!
CLUB SYMPATHIES
The Club would like to offer its sincerest condolences to Barry Power and family on the death of his mother Gretta. May she rest in peace. Also Club sympathies to Mattie Kiely and all the Kiely family of the passing of his brother Benny Kiely. May he rest in peace.

ROSIE SCORES AN ALBATROSS
There was great excitement on Sunday morning when Rosie Murphy scored an albatross on the 16th par 5 in the company of her playing partners Doc O’Connor and Shelly Mernin.
Rosie, who plays off a handicap of 8 landed the ball on the green with a drive and a 5 wood looking forward to an eagle or birdie finish not realising that the ball was in the hole!! Congrats and well done Rosie, we are all so proud of you, hope you celebrate in style!!!
GOLD COASTERS
Due to the inclement weather last Thursday a decision was made to hold the event on Wednesday. While there were many apologies on the day, Anne was still delighted with the turnout. The conditions were very favourable and some great scores returned.
The presentation of last week’s prizes will take place next week and congrats to the winners!! A list of our proposed outings for the season are now posted on our WhatsApp group, there may be a few tweaks to the scheduled list but it’s an indicator of what’s on offer!!

SPRING LEAGUE SPONSORED BY COMSERV
Our Spring League kindly sponsored by our member Rosie Murphy of Comserv Pest Control Services has started with all team members now gone into to Rd 5 despite the inclement conditions. Hopefully the weather will improve to get everyone out to play their required games. Well done to all who have made a tremendous effort on behalf of their teams and congrats to our round winners so far!!
The entry fee will be an initial €25 for registration and the first 5 games which are a requirement from each team member. Subsequent games to better your score will be €5 per game. Please read the terms and conditions which are posted in the kiosk before play!! Good luck to everyone!!
