WESTGATE WINDOWS & DOORS SPONSORED GENTS WINTER LEAGUE 2024/25
Our Gents Winter League has now entered its second week, with players starting strong in the first round, making the most of the mild Halloween midterm weather. We can see already the League is shaping up to be very competitive.
With 9 teams of 13 players each, there’s plenty of time to make your mark, with qualifying rounds running until Friday, February 14, 2025.
Entry fee of €25, is to be paid before playing your first round. Competitions are over 18 holes, daily competition fee is €8 for the first 10 rounds entered, and €5 for all additional rounds.
Players can play on any day and as many times as they like during the qualifying period. To ensure your team’s success, each player is encouraged to complete a minimum of 10 rounds. The top 10 scores from 9 players on each team will count towards the team’s overall standing. Prizes awarded from now until Christmas will be seasonal turkey crowns and hams, to be distributed in December.

CARE OF THE GREENS
We kindly remind all members to take extra care of our greens. Please ensure you repair all pitch marks and handle the removal of your ball from the cup with care, to avoid any damage. Your attention to these details will help maintain the quality of our greens throughout the season.
Winter rules are in operation, placing on both fairways and rough within 6 inches not nearer the hole. Bunkers GUR. Abnormal ground conditions local rule. Please check with kiosk staff for further updates.
SOCIAL GATHERING AND END OF YEAR PRESENTATIONS
Our club captain, David O’Connor (Doc), John Hallahan Club President, Elaine Nash Lady Captain and Anne Keane, Lady President are excited to announce a friendly social gathering for all members at the Gold Coast Hotel on Saturday, 30th November 2024. It’s a brilliant opportunity for us all to meet up off the golf course, catch up, and reminisce about the year gone by. We’ll also be announcing and presenting the year-end competition winners.

WINTER LEAGUE
Our winter league teams have put in a tremendous effort over the first week taking advantage of the beautiful weather!! The 10 Hole is now in Rd4 and the 18 Hole participants chasing their tails with fantastic scores returned, this has been a remarkable result for Week 1.
The league runs from Sat 26 Oct – Sat 31 Dec, there is a minimum of 5 games to be played by each team member which is a requirement as per rules posted.
Entry is €20 cash payable on first day, envelopes are provided for same. Please state clearly, your name, team name and date of play on envelope and hand in to kiosk. Competition cards to be filled out clearly and be legible for those in charge of results, please fill out cards as follows:

GOLD COASTERS
Our plan for last Thursday was the initial monthly scramble, but with the enthusiasm to play the league the scramble fell by the wayside. However, all was not lost as it was another round in for the league and all were delighted with the opportunity to play it.
As per usual, Anne had some beautiful prizes for the winners, well done ladies.
END OF YEAR PRESENTATION
Our end of year get together this year will be a friendly social occasion for all members at the Gold Coast Hotel on Sat 30th Nov 2024. Presentation of the Ladies Foursomes, Mixed Foursomes and Golfer of the Year will take place on the night, the event is free and finger food will be provided.
