CAPTAINS PRIZE 2026
Our very Popular Captain Johnny Hughes presents his week starting on this Wednesday 1st July with the Scramble, a fun get together for all members with a on the hoof Barbecue, spot prizes and lots more, closing date for Scramble is 12 midnight on Tuesday. The serious part of the weekend gets under way on Thursday Friday and Saturday which are Qualifying days for the Grand final on Sunday 5th July where 52 Golfers will take to the Fairways to see who is crowned Captains Winner for 2026. We wish Johnny and Lady Captain Bridge a wonderful weekend. Hopefully the sun will continue to shine.
MICHAEL CASHMAN TROPHY
Hard luck to the Michael Cashman Team who played away to Waterford Castle last Thursday and were narrowly beaten 3-2 on the 3rd extra hole.
The team who represented the Gold Coast were Frank North & Percy Walsh, Phil Kinsella & Tony Fitzgerald, Tom Breathnach & Eoin Mansfield, Seán Fitzpatrick & Brian Dunbar, Ivor Bagge & John Faherty. Reserve pair Tony Ruane & Frank Mulvihill. A big thank you to all panel members who put in great practice sessions over the last 6 weeks and to the management team of Brian Dunbar & Frank Mulvihill.
SENIOR CUP
Our Senior Cup team were beaten yesterday by Carrick on Suir Golf club at home in Carrick. Our team can be so happy with their display of golf and they did themselves and the Club proud. The team was as follows Phil Coffey, John Hallinan, Diarmuid Henley, Andrew Kirwan and Kevin Walsh, subs John White and Colin Mc Arthur. We thank our 3 caddies and supporters who made the trip and thanks also to Managers Alan Darcy and Dave Doc O’ Connor.
OTHER INTER CLUB NEWS
The Junior Cup Team play Monkstown in a two-day event in Muskerry Golf Club Co. Cork on Saturday 4th July at 11.40am under the guidance of David O’Connor and Micheal Wall. Best of luck to all involved.
The Vicent Nevin Team play Tramore at home in the Gold Coast on Saturday 11th July at 3pm under Management of Nicholas Power and Alan Darcy.

Please remember the Three R’s: Rake Bunkers – Always rake the bunker after use, leaving it as you would hope to find it. Replace Divots – Replace and firmly press down any divots taken. Repair Pitch Marks – Repair your own pitch marks (and any others you see) on the greens to help keep surfaces smooth and true. Your cooperation helps maintain the course in excellent condition for everyone, thank you.

CAPTAINS PRIZE WEEKEND
Our Lady Captain Bridge and Captain Johnny will hold their very special weekend starting on Wed 1st July with a mixed scramble and BBQ and qualifying rounds from Thursday for the men and Friday for the ladies.
This year our ladies will be able to play the Capt. Plate which is a one day event or the two day Capt.Prize. There will be 28 qualifiers for the final round on Sunday, giving the ladies an option of which competition to play!!!

CLUB FOURSOMES
Our club foursomes will be starting in July to get us all involved in a match-play tournament. It’s a great format where you are relying on your partner’s skills to keep the ball in play and keep your own concentration on every shot!! GOLD COASTERS
The Gold Coasters were on tour again last week as a group of us headed to our neighbours, Dungarvan GC to play in an Open 4Ball team event in beautiful sunny conditions.
We were warmly welcomed by the Lady Captain Carmel and members of the club who thanked us for coming to support them and a great day was had by all.
OPEN TEAM EVENTS
Our next Open 3 Ball will take place on Wed 22nd July handicap limit of 36 and entry for visitors is €20. Our Play In Pink Day is scheduled for Sunday 27th September. We are giving you plenty notice to invite your friends and golf buddies and get your teams in for the above events.
