Goldcoast Golf Club Notes 19th August 2025

PRESIDENTS PRIZE 2025

Our Presidents Prize hosted by Roy Ware will take place on Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August. The competition will take the usual format with qualifying on Friday and Saturday and a shotgun start on Sunday at 11am for those who qualify.

On Sunday the top 60 will be playing for the President’s Prize and the format will be Stableford playing off the blues.

Booking is now open for this competition and you must have booked your time before midnight Tuesday 19th August. There will then be a draw for playing partners which will have everybody playing within 20 minutes of their preferred time. Once the draw is made it is not possible for members to change their times. The final round on Sunday 24th will be a shotgun start at 11 am.

Starting tee and partners for the final round will be posted on the timesheet at 9 p.m. on Saturday night.

We will start the President’s week off on Wednesday 20th of August with a Mixed Scramble @ 5.15. Entry fee for scramble is 5 Euro which includes BBQ on the hoof and prizes. Please pay at kiosk no later than 5pm with a shotgun start at 5.15. For those wishing to take part in the scramble, please have your names on the time sheet by midnight on Tuesday 19th August. Teams for the scramble will be put together on Wednesday morning.

Who Can win the President’s Prize?

1) You must have your membership and Golf Ireland affiliation up to date before 1st June

2) You must have your time booked before midnight on Tuesday 19th August

3) You must have three competition entries since last year’s President’s prize.

4) You must have a fully active Golf Ireland Handicap (20 counting Scores on your handicap record)

5) Full Members

6) Senior Members

7) Distance Members

8) Honorary Members

9) All other members are eligible to win all other prizes apart from first prize.

Please note practice on the course is prohibited for the duration of the competition.

How much does it cost to enter? This Year the entry fee will be €30.00

For this you get entry into the competition, a goodie bag on the qualifying round and an invitation (free) to the President’s Dinner on Sunday (Carvery Lunch) at 4 pm. All members who enter the competition are more than welcome to attend the dinner and prize presentation which will take place at approximately 5.00 pm.

ON THE COURSE

Please remember the Three R’s: Rake Bunkers – Always rake the bunker after use, leaving it as you would hope to find it. Replace Divots – Replace and firmly press down any divots taken. Repair Pitch Marks – Repair your own pitch marks (and any others you see) on the greens to help keep surfaces smooth and true. Your cooperation helps maintain the course in excellent condition for everyone, thank you.

PRESIDENT’S PRIZE WEEKEND

Our Presidents Roy and Mary are in full swing and pulling out all the stops for their very special weekend. We start the ball rolling with the fun scramble and BBQ on the Wed evening, an event not to be missed as it is a great night of fun golf, great food and mighty craic!!

Qualifying days on Fri and Sat with a shotgun start for the qualifiers on Sunday, dinner and Presentation of prizes afterwards in the hotel. Time sheets are now live and filling up fast!! We would like to wish Roy and Mary the very best of great golf, fun and loads of sunshine for their special weekend!!

 

LADY CAPTAIN’S OUTING

This year our outing will be to Gowran Park GC on Sat 30th Aug. Tea/coffee and scones on arrival with golf and dinner, tee booked from 11am, all details of the outing are posted on our WhatsApp group.

 

EILEEN MURPHY MEMORIAL

Our successful members who will represent us in the Eileen Murphy Memorial in Cork GC on1st September are Bridge Walsh and Martina Corkery with a fabulous score of 47pts on our own course.

While this competition and Cork GC are not new to either of our ladies, we wish them the very best of luck and enjoyment on the day!!
