END OF YEAR GATHERING AND PRIZEGIVING NIGHT
Captains Elaine and Brian and Presidents Mary and Roy are delighted to announce a friendly social gathering for all members at the Gold Coast Hotel on Saturday next 22nd November at 6.00pm. It will be a great opportunity for us to meet up off the golf course, catch up, and reminisce about the year gone by. We will also be announcing and presenting the year-end competition winners. DONNCHADH DUNNE ELECTRICAL W.E.S. WINTER LEAGUE 2025/2026
Our Gents Winter League has entered its Fourth week. Thanks to everyone for making a great effort so far. Qualifying rounds continue until 22nd February 2026. Each competition is played over 18 holes, with a daily competition fee of €8 for the first 10 rounds entered and €5 for all subsequent rounds. Players can play on any day and as often as they wish during the qualifying period. To give your team the best chance of success, each player is encouraged to complete at least 10 rounds. Thank you to everyone for taking care to record points and totals correctly on scorecards and the computer — it enables us to process cards quickly and helps keep the league running smoothly. To follow your teams progress, scores can be viewed weekly on the club website news section.
At our main committee meeting on Tuesday evening, it was decided, due to the uncertainty of supply, that there would be no turkey prizes this year. From Monday 17th November to Sunday 14th December, the competition prizes for the Winter League will be hams.
ANNUAL LIONS CLUB CHRISTMAS APPEAL
The appeal will run from the 1st of December until 7th for competition week and the tickets for two beautiful Hampers and other Prizes kingly sponsored by our members will run up to Sunday 21st December. We hope all members will support this worthy cause.
HOLE IN ONE
We congratulate our member James Darcy who had a hole-in-one in on Mijas Golf Club home of the Spanish Open a few years ago, while away on holidays with other members of the Goldcoast. Well done again James.

LADIES CLUB AGM
Our AGM took place on Sunday 16th November with a large representation of ladies present to witness the changeover of captains and air their views on the past year and what they would like implemented for 2026.
Lady Captain Elaine opened the meeting welcoming everybody and expressing her gratitude to her committee and members for all their help throughout her 2 years at the helm. We continued with a very proactive meeting with a lively discussion on the many aspects of golf, both on and off the course.
Our incoming Lady Captain Bridge took the floor with her wonderful acceptance speech and received her brooch and recognition of her new status within the club. Both Elaine and Bridge spoke of their love of golf and the privilege of being captain, one outgoing and one incoming of the club. We wish to thank Elaine for her term as captain and wish her the very best in her semi-retirement!!
We welcome our new Lady Captain Bridge and her committee and wish them all the very best of luck for 2026.
CHRISTMAS SCRAMBLE
Our annual Christmas scramble is scheduled for Saturday 6th December, a list for names will be posted in kiosk during the week. Please wear your xmas tops and don’t forget your hat!! Looking forward to a great turnout for this fun day out, please add your name!! More details next week!
GOLD COASTERS
This week, we had another great turnout in dry and sunny conditions. There was a sizeable return for the winter league with the competition of the day ticking off another game played. Some great scores were returned and there was also a raffle for those not in the prizes,
congratulations to the winners who were delighted with the prizes presented weekly by Anne!!
WINTER LEAGUE
The winter league got off to a great start with many taking advantage of the dry sunny conditions. We are now in round 5 for the 10 Hole and 18 Hole, a great effort by many team members and some great scores returned, well done to the round winners so far!!
While the individual team scores have not been collated yet, the amount of games played per team is finalised up to Rd 3. The first 4 are listed below, but there is still time for the rankings to change and with the impending dry weather we expect an influx next week!!
All team members are required to play 5 rounds and the entry fee of €20 is payable on first day of play with date, name, team and 10/18 H clearly marked on envelope. Good luck to all and enjoy!!
