CAPTAINS DRIVE IN 2025
Our Captains Brian and Elaine joined by Presidents Roy and Mary got the golfing year off to a good start with their drive in yesterday morning when a great group of members saw a great display of golf as both Captains spilt the fairway. This was followed by an 18 hole mixed scramble on a crisp bright day. Scoring was excellent and the golf was enjoyed by everyone. We then retired to the Hotel for a sit down meal and presentation of prizes. We would like to thank the hotel staff for the service we received as always, and our kiosk staff and ground keeping team for all their hard work in keeping the course in tip top shape. We’d like to thank our fixtures committee John, Bob and Micheal for all their hard work in organising the day, finally we wish Brian and Elaine all the best for the 2025 golfing season.

TABLE QUIZ
Our table quiz hosted by the ladies club last Friday with the legendary Bob as quizmaster was a resounding success with a packed function room. We had a great gathering of golfers, non golfers and especially our men’s club who came out in force to support our cause!!
Bob got the show on the road with his flurry of cryptic questions which got everyone thinking outside the box. The music questions resulted in some excellent choral work and some dancing displays of Strictly and non Strictly variations – brilliant!!
Spot prizes were given out at random for best singing and dancing spectacles, which were hilarious, all spot prizes were donated by members. The raffle took place before the results were announced with some superb prizes on offer, again all were donated.
The highlight of the night was the auction of a Fourball to a very prestigious Golf Resort kindly sponsored by a very generous member. Bob got into his auctioneering mode and secured a very healthy €700 from a group of our men who were delighted to avail of the prize!!
Congratulations to John Fennell and family who were the winners on the night with a great score of 76pts and to Michael Fitzgerald and family who took 2nd place with a score of 73pts.
Beautiful finger food was served during the quiz and a big thank you to Sean, Helen and staff for providing the very tasty treat, it was much appreciated!
Our Lady Captain Elaine thanked everyone and spoke of her gratitude to all who turned up to support the quiz and for the donation of all the prizes on the night with a special Thank You to the men’s club for all their support and generous donation!!
There aren’t many words to describe Bob but I think GEM might be very appropriate. He did his usual remarkable job and kept the fun and games going all night!! Bob had the honour of announcing the total intake for the night which left Elaine speechless, a whopping €1,850. Thank You Everyone!!
GOLD COASTERS
We had a nice turnout last week with lovely sunny conditions and the course in magnificent condition! We played our usual 10 hole competition and some great scores were returned again despite the excellent speed of the greens.
We are open for new members if you would like to join our group managed by Anne who organises our golf and social calendar of events on the days when we can’t play golf!!
The input and suggestions from members of the group for our outings so far have proved to be very successful and greatly appreciated. We had some fantastic days out last year and intend to do more for 2025!! Please join us for a relaxed 10 holes of golf and plenty of discussion, fun and laughter!! All are welcome.
